Come on Irene!

…I know it’s Come on Eileen, but Irene seems more fitting 🙂 While the East Coast is preparing for the wrath of Hurricane Irene, I have been charging my computer (like i’m supposed to) and finding my favorite things.  I can’t let Friday go by without sharing some the things that have my interest.

Friday Favorites:

1. Pretty Pink and flowy dress from etsy.com – it was sold out of course, but i’m going to be checking back on this site for unique hand-made dresses!  The color and the femininity of this dress are right up my alley.

2. Inspiration for a future outfit.  Jeans + striped tee + belt + long necklace = classic! I just realized I have a striped tee and jeans and a brown belt, so easy!

3. Big flowers in little jars. Empty jelly jars, old cups….this is one of my favorite ways to hold flowers.  Reminds me of my mom too!

4. I know I don’t have kids, YET! But, I found a future Halloween outfit for my poor child! Maybe my obsession with coffee and starbucks has gone too far….but look how cute! I had to document this so I don’t forget.

5. Liquor Rack – Ian and I don’t have an apartment to do this yet, but I love the antique and rustic feel of this liquor cabinet….we actually don’t even drink a lot of that stuff, but I could see this being nice for entertaining.

AND! A Bonus fav! Don’t you think they should add this button to Facebook???  haha

Wish me and Ian luck in surviving Hurricane Irene — we have stocked up on the essentials and made all necessary pre-cautions. So all that’s left is hoping for the best!

Hot Hot Hot

Friday is finally here!! And it’s a hot one! It’s 90 degrees outside right now and is supposed to reach 100 later today.  You know how people always ask, would you rather be freezing cold all the time, or hot all the time? I always pick being HOT…but days like today are really testing me! Of course I am still drinking my HOT coffee this morning — nothing will stop me!

For this Friday, I’m going to post a few of my Favorite things (even if I don’t own them, I have my eye on them ;)) …Favorite Fridays 🙂

1. Anthropologie “Speeding Dots Scarf.”  You know how much I love scarves, and this one looks so light and summery.

2. Free People Lace Maxi Skirt. White, Lacy, and flowy – I lOVE!

3. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in So Pearly.   I just picked this up last night and I never wear lipstick…I think it is a generational thing because my mom always has worn lipstick and I grew up with lip glosses galore! This one is the perfect mix of a nude color with sheer and shimmer.

4. The Hunger Games book series.  I recently read all three books in this series and they are now making it into a movie. I loved it! And it is now one of my favorites

5. White Candles — I love all Candles, but I really love these candles from Target that are about $1!

Ok, Off to do a workout!! Hopefully the Gym AC is blasting!

Happy Friday 🙂

Too much Funday = Long Monday

Well, the weekend definitely caught up with me.  The more and more I think back, I am really not sure how I survived college…day drinking is some serious business! I find it kind of funny because I had never really heard of Brunch being very popular growing up.  It wasn’t until I moved to New York City and began my working career that I realized it is THE THING TO DO on the weekends.  It is almost impossible to avoid. I guarantee if you visit the city, at some point you will find yourself brunching like it is nobody’s business.

I’m still trying to get to the bottom of why it is so popular here…maybe it just gets more popular once you graduate school and get older…an excuse to drink mimosas and bloody mary’s? I don’t know! Until I find out, I will keep participating 😉

Sunday Brunch at Yuca Bar was pretty good! I forgot to snap pictures of my meal – but I ordered poached eggs with a cilantro cream sauce over yuca potato and shrimp.  It was my first time trying poached eggs…I’ve always been a little turned off by the gooeyness of them…but they were yummy! Following the food, was a nice happy birthday serenade for Ian!

it's my birthday almost!

My friend had asked the waitress for a cupcake…this is their version!

Followed by a mini-photo shoot…

Dance Party!!

The rest of the day was thoroughly enjoyed, thanks so an awesome group of friends!! iI’m adding this last picture just because at one point I lost my crowd…some group leader I am.

Can you spot me?

When Ian and I finally got home the couch was our best friend.  We spent the rest of the evening watching a movie and I did my nails.

oh la la

Would you believe if I told you these were stickers?? I tried out the new Sally Hansen Nail Effects and was pretty impressed! They are not perfect, but for a product that claims to last up to 10 days and I don’t have to wait for them to dry…I was a happy camper. 🙂 So far so good…

I’m off to bed now, or well…to eat some dessert then go to bed! I had some leftover flourless peanut butter cookie dough so I baked one last batch.

See ya in the morning!
